The Retro Festival in Bad Hofgastein brings festival vibes to the slopes—right in the middle of Gastein’s OFF Spring season, when winter, sunshine, indulgence, and springtime feelings blend into a unique lifestyle experience.
While partygoers celebrate at the Schlossalm, families in the Angertal valley enjoy relaxing vacation moments surrounded by mountains, music, and spring sunshine.

Retro "Wedeln" Workshop
Tight turns, knees together, rhythmic hip swing: To kick off the Retro Festival Gastein, a skiing technique is making a comeback—one that was a must-have on every slope in the ’80s and ’90s. The ski instructors at the Bad Hofgastein Ski School will show you how to carve your way down the valley in style, just like back then—with plenty of tips, a few anecdotes, and lots of good-natured fun.
It’s not about perfect technique, but about the swing and the fun. If you still have a ski suit from back then in your closet, you should definitely dig it out: neon colors, a headband, and a fanny pack are highly encouraged.

Forcher's Time Machine
80s & 90s Hits with Eberhard Forcher
Hardly any voice is as closely associated with the music of the ’80s and ’90s as that of Eberhard Forcher. As the host of “Ö3 Solid Gold Night,” he has accompanied generations of radio listeners with the great classics of those decades. This Ö3 veteran is a former musician, a profound connoisseur of pop history, and a longtime expert on the Song Contest.
At Hotel Blü, Eberhard Forcher himself will step into the time machine and, as a DJ, bring the hits from back then straight to the dance floor. He’ll be bringing along songs that everyone can sing along to—and maybe a story or two to go with them. An evening for dancing and reminiscing.

Retro Night
Live, not recorded: At Retro Night, the cover band “Tanzcafe” brings the biggest hits of the ’80s and ’90s to the stage. From pop to rock to dance classics, they’ll play everything that stormed the charts and filled the dance floors back then.
An evening for everyone who wants to relive the songs of their youth live, and for anyone looking for great music and a lively atmosphere. Singing along and dancing are definitely encouraged—and retro outfits are a must.

Retro DJ Battle
The '80s vs. the '90s: A musical showdown is set to take place at Herzwies in the Angertal. Two DJs will face off, taking turns round after round to spin the biggest hits from both decades.
The DJ battle is the perfect excuse for an extended lunch break or a unique après-ski experience right in the heart of the ski resort. If you show up in a retro outfit, you’ll fit right in. The DJs will be announced shortly.

Retro Flea Market
Neon-colored ski suits, moon boots, headbands, and skis from a time when “carving” was still an unfamiliar term: At the retro flea market on Tauernplatz, Bad Hofgastein becomes a treasure trove of the ’80s and ’90s. The focus is on original ski and winter clothing as well as vintage ski gear, plus everything else that defined those two decades. From Walkmans and cassettes to Game Boys and vinyl records, right down to fanny packs and sunglasses—anything from back then is welcome.
An afternoon of browsing, haggling, and rediscovering treasures under the open sky—rain or shine. If you’re still looking for the perfect outfit for Retro Night that evening, you’re sure to find it here. And if you still have treasures from back then stashed away in your basement, you can pass them on to new enthusiasts by setting up your own booth.

Retro Mania: Schlossalm '90s Open Air – Culture Beat & Rednex Live
The highlight of the Retro Festival Gastein takes place at 2,066 meters: Culture Beat and Rednex live at the Schlossalmbahn mountain station! Culture Beat made Eurodance history with “Mr. Vain,” and Rednex got all of Europe dancing with “Cotton Eye Joe.” Two acts that defined the ’80s and ’90s, all in one evening with a view of the Gastein Valley at night.
The Schlossalmbahn will operate a special service that evening, running continuously from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. The ticket includes the round-trip ride and admission to the concert.

Neon Party
After the concert is before the party: The NEON PARTY is the official after-show party for RETRO MANIA SCHLOSSALM. Following the live performances by Culture Beat and Rednex up on the mountain, the party continues seamlessly at the Salettl mountain lift down in the valley.
Neon lights, glow-in-the-dark colors, and the best retro beats will keep the spirit of the ’80s and ’90s alive late into the night. If you’re looking to spice up your outfit with some neon colors, you’ve come to the right place. The DJ will be announced shortly.

Ski Rally Reloaded: Iconic Outfits. Legendary Moments. New Stories.
A cult event is making a comeback: The Ski Rally already provided unforgettable experiences at the ski resort in the 1980s and 1990s. As part of the Retro Festival Gastein, it will make its comeback on March 20, 2027, in true retro style.
In teams of four and authentic retro outfits, participants will make their way across the Schlossalm and Angertal ski areas. At the participating ski huts, a variety of game stations await, testing participants’ dexterity, music knowledge, and historical know-how.
There’s an additional award for the best retro outfit. Flashy neon colors, iconic ski suits, legendary accessories: the more eye-catching, the better. A jury will select the team with the most convincing look, and great prizes await the winning team. The only requirement: Every participant must wear at least one accessory in the style of the ’80s or ’90s during the ski rally.
A legendary event that combines athletic activity with fun, nostalgia, and genuine retro flair.
