The path to the Gastein cure - applying for a cure in South Tyrol
Anyone wishing to apply for a cure in South Tyrol requires an application from an authorized specialist. The responsible specialists are employed specialists of the rheumatology service of the South Tyrolean Health Service or specialists for rehabilitation.
The authorized doctor issues the application for admission Mod. BADGA/AT. This is then forwarded to the responsible approval office for review and approval.
Cure application to the South Tyrolean Medical Service
Patients from South Tyrol can apply for inpatient rehabilitation in Gastein via the South Tyrolean Health Service .
The prerequisite is a medically justified application by the responsible specialist and approval by the responsible authority. Costs may be covered depending on the medical indication and approval . The spa tax must be paid separately on site.
Outpatient or inpatient?
Outpatient preventive service (open spa treatment)
Costs:
- Cost coverage for therapies, less 10% personal contribution and €10 per doctor's prescription
- Subsidy for accommodation and meals: between €8 and €13 per day
- Settlement directly with contractual partner. Prerequisite: Confirmation of cost coverage or spa treatment voucher booklet
Organization:
- possible every three years (more often in the case of medical exceptions)
- Free choice of spa resort and accommodation
Inpatient preventive care/rehabilitation
Costs:
- Full assumption of costs with co-payment by health insurance or pension insurance
Organization:
- Selection of the spa facility together with the insurance company
- Appointment allocation by spa facility
Private health insurance & cost reimbursement
Under certain conditions , the costs of medical treatment in highly specialized private facilities in Austria can be reimbursed. This is subject to prior approval by the competent regional reference body. The regional commission is responsible for deciding on applications and complaints in connection with health care. It is part of the Department of Health, Office for Health Management.
Prerequisites
Reimbursement of costs is only possible if you are registered with the Provincial Health Service . Persons residing outside South Tyrol must contact the respective health service of their place of residence.
Cure application rejected - what now?
If an application for a cure is rejected, a cure is not automatically ruled out. Often there is a lack of a sufficiently comprehensible medical justification.
In this case, it can be useful to review the application together with the doctor, submit additional findings or have the justification supplemented by specialists. A direct exchange between the treating doctor and the head doctor of the insurance company can also help to clarify open questions.
