Culinary Farm Hike in Bad Hofgastein in Salzburg

During September and October, when autumn is at its most colorful in Gastein Valley, Bad Hofgastein offers culinary farm hikes. At a selection of farms, you will learn about the life and work of our local farming families, simultaneously enjoying delicious products made in Austria.

During these culinary hikes, you will experience first-hand an array of Austrian homemade specialties, along with herbs that are used for medicinal purposes and insights into life on the farm. Farm educator Heidi Huber, from the Mühlhof in Bad Hofgastein and who will accompany you during your farm hike, will explore the natural setting with you and share interesting facts about each of the culinary stops along the way.

Every farm in Gastein offers something different: homemade schnapps and liqueurs, traditional meat pies, or crispy bread and fresh farmhouse cheese. Though also awaiting you during your farm hike are salves and spices from their own herb garden, home-cured bacon, cakes and other sweet treats, Enjoy an irresistible selection of culinary delicacies with just short walks in between, surrounded by breathtaking scenery.

But it isn't only the foods that vary. Each of the farms also specializes in meeting the needs of different tourism segments. For example, learn about our family- and children-friendly farms, as well as the expertise provided by our seminar and herb specialists.
