She is the “mistress of quiet tones” (folker) and an “outstanding poet” (WDR 4). Above all, however, the musician is an extraordinary phenomenon who defies all conventions through her fluid interplay between voice, oboe, English horn, and piano—setting new standards as a multi-instrumentalist.
Lyrical texts, a warm oboe sound, and exceptional arrangements—whether solo or with the Poesie Orchestra—define Miriam Hanika’s sonic universe, which thrives on the boundlessness of music.
She is the recipient of numerous singer-songwriter awards (including the Peter Rohland Song Contest, the Bonn Peace Song Competition, and the Giesing Culture Prize) and was awarded the Förderpreis of the Hanns Seidel Foundation 2023/24 (Advancement Award for Young Singer-Songwriters).
In 2021, Miriam Hanika received the City of Munich Music Scholarship.
She is a founding member of the Dandelion Quintet, with which she won first prize at the international Ars Ventus Chamber Music Competition in 2019.
Her albums are released on Konstantin Wecker’s label Sturm & Klang (“Wanderlust”, 2019, and “Louise”, 2021, nominated for the German Record Critics’ Award).
With her current release “Wurzeln & Flügel” (2023, also on Sturm & Klang), she is currently touring throughout Germany.
