Gastein Valley in Salzburger Land is famous for its unique culinary experiences. Next winter, we will also be treated to creative cuisine thanks to Markt:Auflauf in Bad Hofgastein.
The first Markt:Auflauf in Bad Hofgastein will once again put Gastein’s culinary prowess on clear display. In an unparalleled warm and friendly atmosphere, guests will be able to add an array of palate pleasers to their already memorable ski or spa vacation. There will definitely be no shortage of creative dishes conjured up from local products, since experienced Gastein chefs along with the young cooks from Bad Hofgastein Tourism School, in cooperation with regional producers, will be preparing three special evenings.
The name itself is intriguing since its meaning is deliberately ambiguous: Translated literally into English, it could mean either “Market:Casserole” or “Market:Crowd”. The intent behind that choice is twofold: On the one hand, the goal is to draw crowds of visitors with an appreciation for good food in general. On the other, the popular layered dish, which can be baked with a personal selection of ingredients such as meat, potatoes, vegetables, pasta, flour and many more, is very much the common culinary thread you will be able to follow from one market stand to the next. Young cooks from the Tourism School in Bad Hofgastein will be filling those oven-proof casserole dishes with an array of palate-pleasing products and allowing them to bubble in the oven until they are baked golden brown.
