Hiking for nature lovers
The Gastein Valley boasts a sprawling network of 600 kilometres of waymarked hiking trails. Some of the most beautiful routes can be found on Gastis adventure mountain Fulseck. The 2033-metre mountain serves as both the starting point and the destination for various hikes, ranging from leisurely to more challenging alpine routes. What’s more, various themed trails also start here. Along the way or after your hike, cosy mountain huts are the perfect spots to relax and refuel.
Tip for leisurely explorers: If you want to take it a little easier, Gipfelbahn Fulseck allows you to cover part of the uphill or the way back down to the valley by cable car!
To sharpen your senses: the barefoot path
The hike around the Spiegelsee lake is both exciting and relaxing. Before the start, it's time to take off your shoes: Step by step, different surfaces such as grass, stones and earth are walked on barefoot and consciously perceived. The contact with the ground gently massages the soles and stimulates the foot reflex zones - a blessing for the whole body.

Summit Tour
The approximately 20-minute “Kleine Gipfeltour” begins right at the Fulseck Summit Cable Car’s upper station. The loop trail first leads up a path to the Keeskopf and then continues on to the Fulseck. Along the way, impressive panoramic views of the surrounding mountains open up time and again.
The trail eventually leads back to the mountain station via a short loop. This short and varied loop is easy to navigate and is also suitable for families with young hikers.
Panoramic swings
The ideal opportunity to cover as much distance as possible in just one day is the panorama swing. During the summer season, the Fulseck summit lift, the Kieserlbahn and the Panoramabahn are in operation. This means you can travel comfortably on foot or by gondola between the Grossarl Valley and the Gastein Valley.
Tip: Are you in possession of an Almorama Card or a Berge & Thermen Card? Then you can use the Gastein cable cars as well as the Kieserlbahn and the Panoramabahn in Grossarl free of charge every day except Monday - ideal conditions for carefree hiking.

- The hiking bus makes getting to the Fulseck easier. With the mobility card, you can travel free of charge on public transport throughout the province of Salzburg from this summer.
- Hiking poles and other equipment can be purchased at the Sport Egger sports store directly at the valley station.

How many hiking trails are there at Fulseck?
There are 17 officially marked hiking trails in the Fulseck area. In addition, there are numerous other trails, such as those leading to peaks like the Schuhflicker. The actual network of hiking trails in the Fulseck area is therefore significantly larger. Throughout the Gastein Valley, over 600 kilometers of hiking trails are waiting to be discovered.
Are there guided hikes at Fulseck?
Yes, guided hikes are offered. The hike to the Schuhflicker starts at the top station of the Fulseck summit cable car and leads to the summit of the Schuhflicker. The total walking time is about 4.5 hours. For more information, please contact the Dorfgastein Tourism Association.
How long does it take to reach a summit from the Fulseck Summit Cable Car's upper station?
From the top station of the Fulseck Summit Cable Car, the Keeskopf and the Fulseck are each about a 5-minute hike away. If you take the “Kleine Gipfeltour” as a loop trail, you can hike to both peaks in about 20 minutes. The popular Schuhflicker can be reached in about 1 hour and 45 minutes, and the Kreuzkogel in about 1 hour.

The Fulseck Summit Cable Car in Dorfgastein, the Kieserlbahn, and the Panoramabahn in the Großarl Valley offer a quick ascent to the Fulseck. Some of the most beautiful hiking trails begin at the cable car mountain stations.
What gear do you need for a long hike?
For longer hikes, we recommend sturdy shoes, weather-appropriate clothing, plenty of water and food, sunscreen, and a small first-aid kit. Depending on the hike, hiking poles and a hiking map may also be useful .
What are the rules for dogs on the hiking trails in Dorfgastein?
Dogs are generally permitted on the hiking trails in Dorfgastein. They must be kept on a leash and under control at all times. Exercise special caution when encountering grazing livestock: If an animal approaches, the dog should be let off the leash if necessary. Leashes and muzzles are required on buses and gondolas.
