How a place with large gold chambers became Europe's alpine health region.
In the Middle Ages, unimaginable quantities of gold were mined at the Radhausberg in Böckstein. At that time, Gastein was considered the gold chamber of Europe. In the 1940s, the idea was pursued of driving a tunnel under the ore veins on the Radhausberg and thus once again discovering rich gold deposits. However, no one suspected that the thermal water had probably preceded man. The valuable water, which finds its way up through the ore veins, has dissolved all the ores from the mountain over the centuries. What remains are fine cracks and fissures, through which the radon-containing water vapor rises from the source level into the gallery. Here it heats the rock and causes this unique healing climate.
Even the miners were largely spared the common colds. Then, when the effects of the Gasteiner Heilstollen were examined more closely in more than 100,000 scientific studies, it was discovered that the climate in the Gasteiner Heilstollen far exceeded the effects of all therapies known at that time in some areas. Since then, countless people have followed the path to natural freedom from pain and have benefited from the effects of the Gasteiner Heilstollen.
Today, the Gastein Heilstollen is a modern outpatient hospital that focuses on the patient and his needs in its holistic approach to treatment. The Heilstollen therapy is recognized byAustrian and German health insurance companies. Find out more about the unique spa offer in Gastein!
