One of the longest downhill runs in the Eastern Alps

Die Nord - The race

A real challenge for the winter sports enthusiast!

2026 marks the fifth anniversary of the spectacular race on the north run of the Schlossalm in Gastein. The route from the Hohe Scharte to the valley station of the Schlossalm is considered one of the longest downhill runs in the Eastern Alps. The "wild race" in super-G style covers 1440 metres in altitude. It takes enormous strength and stamina in the thighs to be cheered on by the fans at the finish line at the Weitmoserin after around 6 minutes.

Draw and starting order

Points are awarded for each race participation. These are calculated using a formula similar to the FIS points formula. Age, gender and sports equipment (skis or snowboard) do not play a role in the draw. It's all about ability. The fastest skier or snowboarder of the day receives zero points.

The last three races are always used for the calculation. Those who have not yet competed in three races receive a penalty for the previous races.

This means that each starter has collected points from three years. The average of these two years gives the current total points score and thus the ranking.

The draw is made in groups of 30. This means that everyone who is currently in the top 30 will be drawn. Everyone between 31 and 60 will be drawn. 61-90, 91-120 and so on...

All those starting for the first time this year will be drawn in the last starting group.

The start interval is 15 seconds.
