An exciting program with top-class, well-known and up-and-coming young artists awaits you.
Art is as much a part of Bad Gastein as the imposing mountains and the magnificent Belle Époque buildings. Bad Gastein has always exerted a great attraction on artists and art lovers. So it's no wonder that an excellent art and culture festival has established itself here with sommer.frische.kunst.
15 years of sommer.frische.kunst. & 100 years Gerhard Garstenauer
Art needs its space, its freedom - and artists have enjoyed this for many years in Gastein. Andrea von Goetz is the artistic director of sommer.frische.kunst. If you would like to know more about the curator 's work, you can find out more in an interview on the Gastein Blog .
"Welcome back" - 15 years, 15 artists, 1 location
The big anniversary exhibition brings 15 selected artists back to Bad Gastein - all of them personalities who have shaped the festival in recent years. Among them are Jorinde Voigt, Philipp Fürhofer, Henrik Eiben, Gerwald Rockenschaub, Franziska Stünkel and many more. Their works - inspired by their stays in Gastein - reflect personal memories, artistic processes and new perspectives on nature, time and space.
28.6. - 31.8.2025 at the power plant at the waterfall
To mark the 100th anniversary of the birth of the architect Gerhard Garstenauer, who shaped the local landscape, several exhibitions on his brutalist buildings are being held in Bad Gastein.
In the power station, Garstenauer's cultural significance is shown in a historical and contemporary context. In the foyer of the Felsentherme, Gastein74 invites visitors on a journey through time to the origins of the spa, which opened in 1968, with an original video lounge, while on Straubingerplatz a film showcase at "Wally Badgastein" shows entertaining everyday scenes from Bad Gastein in the 60s and 70s around the clock.
"Slow" - Theresa Hattinger on the Graukogel
In dialog with the alpine landscape, Theresa Hattinger creates a walk-in installation that invites you to consciously slow down. The "Slow" project, realized in collaboration with the Kunstraum Traklhaus Salzburg, uses a hiking route on the Graukogel and turns nature into an experience - decelerated, contemplative, intense.
