At the beginning of September, the entire valley is in trail running fever. Runners from all over the world meet in Gastein for the adidas TERREX INFINITE TRAILS and around 350 highly motivated citizens support them as volunteers along the routes. What makes this event so attractive is the extraordinary international community that has formed around it.
Up to 80 people make up the running groups that train together for the INFINITE TRAILS and travel to Gastein.
The race is open to all skill levels: from a 15K with 900 meters of elevation gain for beginners to a 60K ultra-distance with 5,000 meters of elevation gain over three Gastein peaks. However, the team race takes center stage. Here, three people run 100 kilometers and 7,600 vertical meters together as a relay, divided into three different laps (21K+35K+44K).
Spectators can follow the race live via the hiking swing and immerse themselves in the special event atmosphere in the Gastein Valley.

First and foremost, trail running requires a suitable shoe or trail shoe. A normal running shoe can also be used, but there are special trail running shoes for more support and stability. In addition, a small rucksack or belt is very often used to carry the most necessary items such as a hydration bladder or bottle, a headlamp, sunglasses, trail running poles or a GPS watch or fitness tracker, as required.
If you are out and about in alpine terrain, you have to be prepared for sudden changes in the weather. Therefore, in addition to a fitness watch with GPS and sufficient liquids and food, it is also advisable to always have wind and rain protection as well as gloves and a buff/cap with you. A charged cell phone so that you can call for help in an emergency and a small first aid kit with blister plasters should also be in your running backpack.
