Fancy some fancy lines in the fresh powder?
Nothing is more fun than really letting off steam off-piste. With its north-facing wide runs with champagne powder until the afternoon, and the fast tree runs and gullies, the Gasteinertal valley is a true hot spot for every feeride lover.
Due to its high alpine location, the Gasteinertal valley is known for its snow reliability. The Sportgastein ski area, which reaches up to 2,686 meters, scores points with freeriders for its numerous deep snow slopes that can be reached without a long ascent. It is not for nothing that top athletes such as Sandra Lahnsteiner have settled in Gastein. In addition, international contests, competitions and freeride camps are held regularly.

However, the prerequisite for this is the right equipment including avalanche VS device, probe, shovel as well as the right preparation. Do not put yourself in danger unnecessarily! You can check the avalanche transceiver at the avalanche search field on the valley floor in Sportgastein to make sure it is working properly. Avalanche awareness is an important topic for ski routes and ski slopes away from marked trails and other skiers. Your safety is also a top priority when freeriding.
In Gastein you also have the opportunity to explore the mountains with a professional freeride guide. Experienced freeriders also benefit from a trained guide who will lead you to the best freeride spots in the Gastein ski area. The following always applies: Ride safe!
