Ivo von Renner
Commercial Photographer & Visual Artist
With over 250 international awards, Ivo von Renner is one of the most renowned photographers in the field. A graduate in graphic design, he began his career working editorially for ZEIT Magazin and Stern, and from 1978 onwards collaborated with advertising agencies across Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and Italy. Since 1995, his focus has shifted primarily to the U.S., where he works with major American agencies. In the 2010s, he also directed several commercial films.
His artistic work has been exhibited since 1979 at the Musée d’Art et d’Histoire (MAHF) in Fribourg, Switzerland. Among his most celebrated works are the Double Polaroids—created from 1975 onward and published as a book in 2024. Other publications include "Aus der Entfernung zu Euch" and "Die Architektur der Bilder."
Ivo has taught extensively and led workshops for Hasselblad, Panasonic, and Leica. Together with his wife Dagmar, he also conducts team-building seminars. His photographic journey has taken him to 41 countries, where he has captured people and their stories—experiences that now flow into his teaching.
