Gastein Classics

Under the title "Gastein Classics", Bad Gastein joins the top destinations of cross-country skiing, because well-known races such as the Wasalauf, the Birkebeiner Race or the Marcialonga, which have achieved cult status in their respective nations and are known far beyond their national borders, are also part of the Ski Classics race series.

Sportgastein, surrounded by the Hohe Tauern National Park, will host the prologue, the opening event of the race series, from 12-14 December 2025.

The athletes of the 35 Pro Teams run comparatively short distances (7 km at the team event on Saturday and 35 km at the individual race on Sunday).

Amateur runners also have the chance to compete with others in Sportgastein: This is possible in the two amateur races on Saturday afternoon and you can choose between the distances of 15 km or 30 km.

• from 9 am: Kids Day in Sportgastein zum Start in die Wintersaison
• from 8.45 am breakfast for first 200 guests of the Goldbergbahn: coffee and croissant in the gondola
• 9.30 am: snow show hike with Hans Naglmayr
• 4.30-6 pm: bib number pickup at the Felsentherme Bad Gastein (Amateurs)
• 4.30-7.30 pm: Pastaparty at the Restaurant Silberkrug (Amateurs)
• 5 pm: Gastein Classics Opening - Leader Bib Presentation at the Felsentherme Bad Gastein
  

Saturday, 13.12.2025

• 8.30 am Bad Gastein Pro Team Tempo
  - 7 km classic style
  - flower ceremony afterwards in the finish area
• 1 pm: Gastein Classics Amateur race / Challenger
  - 15 or 30 km classic style
• 4 pm: flower ceremony

additional program:

• all day: Skitest with Fischer Sports: cross country, alpine, freeride, touring
• all day: waxing service with HWK
• all day: DJ and moderation in the finish area
• 8.15 am: opening with the Alphornbläsern
• 9.30 am: snow shoe hike with Hans Naglmayr to view point along the track
• 11 am: waxing workshop with HWK
• 11 am - 2 pm: DJ Sounds at the Restaurant Weitblick (middle station)

Sunday, 14.12.2025

• 9 am: Bad Gastein Criterium
  - 35 km classic style, individual competition women and men
  - flower ceremony afterwards in the finish area
