The Schareck lies in the Goldberg Group in the heart of the Hohe Tauern mountains, right on the border between Carinthia and Salzburg. We will meet at the tourist office in Bad Hofgastein at 5:45 in the morning - next possibility to get on is in Bad Gastein, then take a taxi via Sportgastein. This tour sets out from Sportgastein and takes us along the Neuwirtsteig up the eastern ridge, which will bring us to the Aperes Schareck. The short scrambling stages on the eastern ridge will be secured for us by the mountain guide. From there, we will make our way via the Aperes Schareck and glacier to the summit of the Schareck at 3.123 m. Our descent takes us back the same route.

Equipment:
• waterproof mountaineering shoes that fit well and have a good tread (class C), also suitable for crampons
• poles, crampons
• weatherproof clothing and a change of clothes
• sun protection: a cap, sunblock, potentially a headband, thin gloves
• snacks and plenty to drink
Crampons and harnesses can be borrowed on-site from the mountain guide for €10/person
Because of the length, duration and difficulty of this alpine tour, very good condition, surefootedness as well as a head for heights are required! Dogs are not permitted on this tour!
